Corona: GSIS is sewing face masks
Corona is on everyone’s lips, the mutual responsibility is high. To reduce the risk of infection, masks are now being sewn at GSIS Accra. When the shut-down was announced, teachers and students started sewing fabric masks to distribute in the surrounding areas of Nima and Kokomlemle. Each student will receive 3 Ghana Cedis per mask, funded by the GSIS fabric bag project. This is an enormous incentive – even if the time required to sew the masks is very high. The German Embassy Accra supports this project and has also commissioned seamstresses who have hardly any orders at this time. The masks go free of charge to people who cannot afford any. Even if they are not certified models, they are good enough to prevent an infection.
