About us

The German International School Accra is amongst 135 recognised schools abroad established by the Federal Republic of Germany together with local school associations to promote the German language and culture abroad.

As a "recognised German school abroad" and a member of the network of German schools abroad, we offer our students a comprehensive educational programme from kindergarten to secondary school. With almost 60 years of existence, the school looks back on a successful development.

The continuous work on the further development of the school resulted in it being awarded the "Excellent German School Abroad" quality seal by the Federal President in 2016. 

The educators at GISA are convinced that a school for children should be more than just an institution where they learn to read and write and where knowledge in the individual learning areas and subjects is taught. Schools today must also be a home for children where they can meet adults who are understanding and warm towards them and who listen to their questions and problems.

Everyday school life should not just be a series of lessons, but should be lively and varied. In addition to games, sport and fun as well as artistic and craft activities, the children also take part in extracurricular activities such as excursions, school trips and much more.

Our children are supported by all members of the school community in all areas of the school. GISA's pedagogical approaches are diverse, innovative and tailored to the needs of our pupils.
